2022 — Ongoing / Personal project
Venice is a city that suffers, beyond the dazzling appearance reserved for a few: overtourism, real estate speculation, and erroneous social and housing policies are gradually suffocating it amidst trinkets of fake Murano glass and portable fans. Personally, I am fortunate, at a high cost, to be able to live here and I fight to be able to stay.
For some years now, I have been following and documenting the marches and protests that Venetians – the real ones, those who speak up – put into action to keep Venice a place not solely reserved for tourism.
Grateful thanks to Federica, Marta, Ruggero, Giulia, Carlotta, Stella, Emanuele, Alice, Tommaso, Clair, Anna, Martina, Mirko, Leo and all who endeavor, with unwavering voices, for a better, more equitable, and sustainable Venice. Thank you, Elena, for joining me at so many of these protests. Thanks to all the collectives that have appreciated and appreciate my shots.
